What's in the bag
500 grams of single-origin Bugisu Arabica, grown on the slopes of Mount Elgon in eastern Uganda. Washed process: the fruit pulp is removed within hours of picking, the beans are fermented overnight, washed clean, and dried slowly on raised beds. Then roasted medium in Kampala in batches of 15 kilos or less. Whole bean. Grind it fresh, brew it clean.
How it tastes
Jasmine and citrus peel hit first, right as you grind and brew. In the cup it opens with bright lemon and sweet cane sugar. The body is medium and clean, not heavy. The acidity is lively, the kind that sits on the sides of your tongue and keeps you reaching for the next sip. Finish is black tea with no bitterness. This is a washed coffee doing what washed coffee does best: clarity, brightness, nothing muddy.
Where it comes from
The Bugisu sub-region sits on the western slopes of Mount Elgon, where volcanic soil and high altitude produce Uganda's best-known Arabica. Nonda buys directly from smallholder farmers here. The washing stations are community-run. Our team cups every lot on site before it ships. The farmer gets paid above the government-set farmgate. Every bag traces to a specific washing station and harvest date.
